Job Title: Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at The Arc Eastern Connecticut. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support and care to our participants, promoting their independence, and empowering them to reach their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about creating a more inclusive community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver personalized support and care to participants, including assistance with daily living skills, recreation, and leisure activities.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans, working closely with participants, families, and other stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete required documentation, including program data, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Ensure participants' health and safety, including prevention of abuse, CPR, and first aid.
  • Provide transportation to recreational and community activities.
  • Prepare meals following published menus.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and assist people in all areas of life skills, including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer aptitude and ability to speak/write in English.
