Overview:

The Senior Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a comprehensive range of safety services and initiatives. This role involves implementing, communicating, and facilitating training programs for employees, contractors, and the public regarding policies, procedures, and safe work practices, ensuring that all stakeholders perform their duties safely. The position ensures adherence to federal, state, local, and other recognized safety standards while continuously seeking to enhance processes and communication to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage safety compliance programs, staying informed on regulatory changes to maintain alignment with laws and company policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections at facilities and job sites, collaborating with leadership to address any identified issues.
  • Facilitate compliance-related functions, including monitoring and testing as required by regulations.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, providing recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Prepare reports and interpret data for various stakeholders, assisting in regulatory compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Serve as a technical advisor for internal safety committees and represent the organization in safety-related associations.
  • Design and deliver training sessions for internal and external audiences, contributing to public education initiatives.
  • Utilize technical expertise to resolve safety-related issues promptly, with the authority to halt unsafe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • For candidates without an associate degree, at least 9 years of related work experience is required.
  • OSHA 30-hour Outreach Training for Construction must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations and electric utility safety program components.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Work Environment:
This role involves working in general office, industrial plant, and field environments, with some travel required. Outdoor site visits may involve navigating uneven surfaces and utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary. Physical demands may include lifting and carrying various materials and equipment.

Compensation:
Annual salary range is competitive, with additional short-term incentive opportunities based on company discretion.
