About the Position

Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Crisis Case Manager to join our Mobile Response Team. As a Crisis Case Manager, you will play a critical role in providing crisis intervention and stabilization services to individuals experiencing homelessness, severe and persistent mental illness, and/or substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to crisis calls originating from covered housing sites and provide timely outreach services to individuals in crisis.
  • Complete risk assessments, develop safety plans, and coordinate with clients and housing staff to ensure safety.
  • Assess situations quickly and respond appropriately to any type of mental health and/or substance use crisis to ensure the physical and psychological safety of clients.
  • Refer clients to MRT case management for continued support and establish a plan to successfully engage clients in relevant services and other resources.
  • Provide follow-up services aimed at coordinating care with case managers, housing staff, and other support to establish linkage to services for program participants.
Requirements
  • Ability to meet Washington Department of Health requirements for registration as a Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or any other superseding credential.
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related behavioral science, or a combination of 1 year of relevant paid work experience and demonstration of the ability to perform required job duties.
  • Ability to drive an agency or personal vehicle to conduct agency-related business, with a current Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Eligible for a Licensed AAC credential or any other superseding credential that meets RCW requirements to act as a Mental Health Professional whose scope of practice includes independently conducting mental health assessments and making mental health diagnoses.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English (fluent).
