Patient Scheduling Coordinator

Position Overview:
This role is fully remote, with a requirement to be within a reasonable distance for occasional in-person needs.
Successful candidates must be available for a comprehensive training schedule during the initial weeks, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
This is a relief position, not eligible for benefits, allowing flexibility to select shifts based on availability. [1st shift hours - no nights]
ROLE SUMMARY
Provide outstanding service and quality care to all patients and clients through a commitment to excellence and respect for every individual. Promote a culture of teamwork, participation, and professional development. Responsible for managing procedure scheduling through the Pathways Healthcare Scheduling System (PHS), ensuring accurate patient data is gathered to streamline the pre-registration process, and delivering high-quality support to physicians regarding patient information and communication requirements. Collaborate with various departments to optimize the use of resources while meeting physician preferences and patient needs, in alignment with the values and mission of Trinity Health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage scheduling for various procedures including Surgery, Endoscopy, Rehabilitation Services, and Radiology.
- Gather and verify patient demographic details, including insurance information, to facilitate the pre-registration process.
- Request pre-certification or authorization numbers from physician offices when available.
- Communicate necessary preparations for scheduled procedures to patients and physician offices, both verbally and through printed itineraries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma required; an Associate degree with medical certification is preferred.
- Experience with Medical Terminology or two years in a related role in healthcare is advantageous.
- Minimum of two years of computer experience, preferably in a Windows environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Exceptional customer service skills to foster positive interactions with patients and physicians.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to maintain a professional image.
- Ability to successfully complete a training aptitude assessment.
SHIFT DETAILS
This position operates on a relief/per diem/contingent basis. Work hours will be scheduled in advance as needed during 1st shift hours, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts required.
This position does not offer benefits.
