Position Overview:
This role is fully remote, with a requirement to be within a reasonable distance of the Muskegon area.
Commitment to a full-time training schedule, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, is essential during the initial training period.
This is a relief position that does not offer benefits, allowing flexibility to select shifts as desired. [1st shift hours - no nights]
ROLE SUMMARY
Provide outstanding service and support to all patients and stakeholders through a dedicated commitment to excellence and respect for every individual. Create a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and professional development. Responsible for scheduling procedures using the Pathways Healthcare Scheduling System (PHS), ensuring accurate patient information is gathered to streamline the pre-registration process, and delivering quality communication to physicians regarding patient needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage the scheduling of procedures for various departments including Surgery, Endoscopy, Rehabilitation Services, and Radiology.
- Collect and verify patient demographic details, including insurance information, to facilitate the pre-registration process.
- Request pre-certification or authorization numbers from physician offices when available.
- Communicate necessary preparations for scheduled procedures to patients and physician offices, either verbally or through printed itineraries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma required; an Associate degree with medical certification is preferred.
- Completion of Medical Terminology courses or two years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Minimum of two years of computer experience, preferably in a Windows environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Exceptional customer service skills are necessary for maintaining positive relationships with patients and physicians.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present a professional image.
- Ability to successfully complete a training aptitude assessment.
SHIFT DETAILS
This position operates on a relief/per diem/contingent basis. Hours will be scheduled in advance as needed during regular office hours on the first shift. Availability for occasional weekends and holidays may be required.
This position does not include benefits.
