Position Overview
- The Law Enforcement Officer is responsible for executing general policing duties, which include responding to emergencies, managing traffic, conducting routine patrols, investigating criminal activities, and other related responsibilities. This role emphasizes the use of contemporary policing techniques and encompasses a variety of law enforcement tasks. The individual in this position will utilize discretion and independence while carrying out various law enforcement functions.

- Observe and monitor activities within the designated patrol zone, taking necessary enforcement or assistance actions as required by specific situations.
- Proactively engage in appropriate activities when not assigned specific tasks.
- Respond to and act upon specific assignments as directed.
- Accurately document actions taken and adhere to relevant reporting and administrative protocols.
- Communicate information regarding activities and observations in a timely and effective manner.
- Acquire, develop, and apply essential law enforcement skills appropriately.
- Eligibility for certification by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board or enrollment in the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Recruit Academy.
- A minimum of 60 college credits in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to legally possess a firearm.
- No felony or domestic abuse convictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in operating computer systems.
- Clear and articulate speech.
- Capability to perform essential job functions of this role.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a law enforcement officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board if not already certified.
- Full-time sworn officers must reside within designated counties and relocate within a specified timeframe after completing probation.
- Ability to legally possess a firearm, with no felony or domestic abuse convictions.
- React effectively to high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in using standard law enforcement equipment.
- Willingness to take on responsibilities.
- General understanding of modern law enforcement principles, methods, and practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the community.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- The Law Enforcement Officer primarily operates from a patrol vehicle and is subject to various weather conditions. This is a uniformed position.
- Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a selection assessment.
- Interviews will be scheduled for selected candidates.
- Testing will take place at the designated training facility.
- Late arrivals will not be permitted, and no alternate testing dates will be offered.
- Top candidates will be invited for interviews for immediate openings and future hiring lists.
