Compensation Range: $20.00 - $30.00

Compensation figures are based on company-wide standards. Actual earnings may differ based on factors such as: restaurant brand, experience, education, location, applicable minimum wage, unit volume(s), hours worked, and potential overtime.

Position Overview

The General Manager oversees the operations and personnel of a Wendy's restaurant, ensuring adherence to all company policies, procedures, programs, and systems. This role is responsible for achieving objectives across all operational areas while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and ethical business practices. The General Manager provides leadership, guidance, training, and development to subordinate managers and crew members.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Management

  • Oversees sales performance against budget and prior year metrics.
  • Implements national and local marketing initiatives and new product launches.
  • Develops strategies to address negative trends and boost sales.
  • Communicates sales results and forecasts to the District Manager and store management.
  • Addresses activities that may detract from store business.
  • Enhances sales through a focus on customer satisfaction.

Cost Control

  • Manages profit targets in relation to budget and previous performance.
  • Oversees food, labor, and supply costs along with other controllable expenses.
  • Monitors crew preparation, production, and adherence to procedures.
  • Tracks waste levels using established protocols and supervises crew tasks.
  • Implements corrective measures to improve profitability.
  • Reports profitability performance and expected variances to the District Manager and management team.

Human Resources Management

  • Fosters a positive working relationship with staff and colleagues.
  • Ensures the execution of comprehensive Human Resources programs.
  • Handles crew applications, interviews, and reference checks.
  • Maintains a recruitment, development, recognition, and retention system for management and crew.
  • Supervises subordinate management and crew to maximize retention and achieve turnover objectives.
  • Utilizes approved interviewing techniques to identify candidates who reflect the company’s values.
  • Addresses and resolves performance issues with staff in accordance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides timely feedback.
  • Acts as a role model and mentors store managers in leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensures compliance with all employment laws.
  • Maintains a respectful and dignified work environment.

Quality, Service, and Cleanliness

  • Achieves and maintains Sparkle certification by adhering to Quality, Service, and Cleanliness standards.
  • Trains staff on food safety procedures and ensures compliance with health regulations.
  • Monitors product quality by engaging with customers and managing crew performance.
  • Addresses customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Tracks service times and implements improvements as necessary.
  • Conducts regular inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Training and Development

  • Delivers training and development in line with company standards.
  • Conducts comprehensive store orientations for new managers and crew.
  • Utilizes training systems to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Communicates operational changes and new products to staff.
  • Evaluates high-performing crew members for potential leadership roles.
  • Ensures safety training is conducted regularly for all employees.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensures compliance with company operational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the District Manager to set store priorities and execute plans.
  • Implements action plans based on performance evaluations and feedback.
  • Conducts regular management meetings to reinforce priorities.

Administrative Duties

  • Completes all required administrative tasks and reports.
  • Creates staff schedules to meet operational objectives.
  • Analyzes financial reports and reviews with management.
  • Maintains employee records in accordance with company policies.

Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Attendance

Regular attendance is a critical component of this role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises four to five subordinate supervisors, including Crew Leaders, Shift Supervisors, Assistant Managers, and Co-Managers, with direct oversight of 30+ employees during peak times.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or one to two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and regulations. Capable of writing reports and correspondence effectively.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform calculations related to discounts, commissions, and other financial metrics.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to identify problems, gather data, and draw conclusions.

Certificates and Licenses

Must complete required training within 90 days of hire or promotion. Serve-Safe Certification is mandatory.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and may involve lifting up to 50 pounds. Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance are necessary for business-related travel.

Work Environment

The General Manager must be able to work in a dynamic environment with moderate noise levels.
