Position Summary:

The Laboratory Supervisor is accountable for managing the daily functions of a research and development laboratory, guaranteeing that all operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This role encompasses the supervision of laboratory personnel, upkeep of equipment, and assurance that all laboratory protocols are meticulously followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee laboratory personnel, including task delegation, priority setting, and provision of necessary training and guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations during all laboratory activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through regular calibration, repair, and maintenance.
  • Manage laboratory inventory by ordering supplies, keeping accurate records, and monitoring usage.
  • Enforce laboratory safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Engage in the development and execution of new research initiatives, including experiment design, data analysis, and report preparation.
  • Collaborate with various departments, such as engineering and quality control, to integrate laboratory findings into the product development lifecycle.
  • Keep precise records of laboratory activities, including experimental data and maintenance logs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process enhancement and quality improvement.
  • Stay informed about advancements in the field, including new technologies and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering field, with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in customer support and procurement processes.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and related software.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations, including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
