Position Summary:

The Laboratory Supervisor is accountable for managing the daily functions of a research and development laboratory, ensuring all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves overseeing laboratory personnel, maintaining equipment, and enforcing adherence to established protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee laboratory personnel, including task delegation, priority setting, and providing necessary training and support.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards in all laboratory activities.
  • Maintain and service laboratory equipment, including calibration and repairs.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, including procurement, inventory tracking, and record maintenance.
  • Enforce safety protocols within the laboratory, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazardous material handling.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of new research initiatives, including experiment formulation, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and production, to integrate laboratory findings into product development.
  • Keep precise records of laboratory activities, including experimental outcomes and equipment servicing.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts, identifying opportunities for process enhancement and quality assurance.
  • Stay informed on advancements in the field, including new technologies and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering field, with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory practices, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in customer support and procurement processes.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and related software.
  • Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and OSHA regulations.
