Key Responsibilities:
Under close supervision, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, implementation, and management of waste diversion initiatives through a comprehensive approach that includes regular engagement with key commercial and residential clients, local authorities, educational outreach, and waste auditing services.

Essential duties include:

  • Conducting waste and diversion assessments for clients.
  • Providing diversion strategies and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Implementing service modifications and following up to ensure the success of diversion programs.
  • Documenting all client interactions for streamlined reporting.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and speeches within the community.
  • Coordinating recycling and landfill diversion programs with local authorities and educating clients on program elements and related services.
  • Creating content for various media platforms, including social media, advertisements, and annual reports to promote the company and its services.
  • Developing and delivering effective public education initiatives in franchise cities that meet contract obligations and support regional sustainability objectives.
  • Acting as the company representative for city officials, regional organizations, and associations.
  • Managing and securing new contracts from key commercial recycling clients in both regulated and unregulated markets, in collaboration with the sales department.
  • Surveying routes to verify service rates, efficiencies, and quantities.
  • Reviewing audit reports on contamination and diversion challenges and providing management with summaries to enhance diversion rates and ensure compliance with legal obligations.
  • Monitoring and researching relevant public policy issues that may affect operational and business practices.
  • Participating in team projects as assigned.
  • Maintaining and updating all legally required documents and company policies.
  • Possibly managing and expanding local buy-back centers.
  • Flexibility in work schedule based on business needs, with frequent travel to offsite meetings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.

A typical qualification path includes:
One year of relevant experience in resource recovery (e.g., waste management, recycling) or equivalent training. Familiarity with technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications, and programs related to this field. Awareness of current developments and trends in marketing, resource recovery, and sustainability.
