Position Summary

This role as a Senior Environmental Scientist specializing in Air Quality will support the Environmental Management Facility Compliance Team, acting as a key authority on air quality regulatory adherence. This hybrid position primarily involves remote work, with occasional travel to various facilities within the service area, which generally includes regions in Northern California.

This senior-level role necessitates strong project and program management capabilities, providing technical assistance across a spectrum of air quality compliance issues. Responsibilities include developing and refining clear and consistent guidance, collaborating with Environmental Management personnel and functional area partners to effectively implement air quality compliance strategies in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.

The Senior Environmental Scientist will work closely with Environmental Field Specialists and other team members to ensure compliance with both facility operations and construction projects, all while aligning with corporate goals and values. The primary focus will be on resolving challenges, streamlining processes, and minimizing air quality risks across various projects and facilities.

This position is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and on-site responsibilities based on operational needs.

Salary Information

The company provides a salary range that reflects its good faith estimate for this position. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including skills, education, experience, and market conditions. The estimated salary range is as follows:

California Minimum: $123,384

California Maximum: $165,204

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety by applying training and resources to enhance workplace safety.
  • Provide air quality compliance support for Gas & Electric Transmission facilities, including:
    • Assisting with Title V compliance program implementation.
    • Coordinating source testing and preparing compliance reports.
    • Facilitating inspections and responding to inquiries from regulatory bodies.
    • Managing permit applications and revisions.
  • Support compliance efforts for non-permitted facilities and assist with California Air Resources Board regulations.
  • Review and improve internal data management systems to ensure accurate compliance reporting.
  • Develop and deliver training for internal teams on air quality regulations and compliance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure air quality compliance during construction and operational phases.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline, sciences, or engineering.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in environmental air quality, including technical expertise and client relationship management.
  • Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one by the start of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an environmental discipline, sciences, engineering, or MBA.
  • Project management training or certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental air quality regulations.
  • Proficiency in work management systems and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
