SWCA Environmental Consultants is on the lookout for a Lead Environmental Planner who possesses extensive experience in overseeing and crafting all components of CEQA / NEPA assessments and associated tasks.
This role will also involve significant responsibilities in proposal development, client engagement, and various business development initiatives.
The selected candidate will collaborate with SWCA's diverse Sacramento office personnel, alongside teams specializing in planning, natural resources, and cultural resources across our other western regional offices.
This is a full-time, salaried position (with benefits) that offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement in the Greater Sacramento area.

• Develop and oversee a diverse array of CEQA and NEPA documentation for various project types and clientele.
• Conduct thorough background research and data gathering on land use and environmental issues primarily for CEQA documentation, and occasionally for NEPA documentation.
• Perform site assessments.• Create clear and concise summaries of technical environmental background studies produced by specialists in areas such as transportation, geology, air quality, and noise.
• Collaborate closely with and lead teams of planners and technical experts to generate CEQA and NEPA documents and fulfill related responsibilities for multiple projects.
Qualifications for Success• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of ten years of experience with a public planning agency, an environmental consulting firm, or similar roles.
• Proficient understanding of CEQA and NEPA, along with other relevant environmental statutes and regulations.
• Proven experience in leading client and business development initiatives and proposals to attract new clients.
• Strong technical review capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
