Job Summary

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Planner/Scientist to join our team in our Oakland or Sacramento office. As a key member of our Environmental Sciences, Planning & Sustainability department, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development related to CEQA/NEPA and related technical studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and oversee research, field work, and impact analysis for CEQA/NEPA and related technical studies
  • Prepare and manage the preparation of complex CEQA/NEPA documents for roadway, transit, and rail projects
  • Oversee and train junior staff on CEQA/NEPA and other planning/environmental requirements
  • Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
  • Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance
  • Perform various business development functions, including proposal preparation and active involvement in transportation-related planning/environmental organizations
  • Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA/NEPA and related technical areas
Requirements
  • BS/BA Degree in applicable field and 12+ years of increasingly responsible experience required
  • Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) preferred
  • Experience in a private environmental consulting firm preferred
  • Experience working with and/or for Metro, Caltrans, FTA, FHWA and/or local or a regional transportation/transit agency preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent organization, schedule and budget management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Willingness to travel as projects require
