Position Summary
The Senior Environmental Scientist - Air Quality Subject Matter Expert will play a crucial role in supporting PG&E's Environmental Management Facility Compliance Team. This hybrid role primarily involves remote work with occasional travel to various facilities within the coverage area, which includes regions in Northern California. This position is classified as ESC or union-represented exempt and is subject to collective bargaining.
This senior-level role demands strong project and program management capabilities, along with providing technical assistance across a spectrum of air quality compliance issues. Key responsibilities include the development and enhancement of clear guidance, programs, and procedures, while collaborating with Environmental Management personnel and functional area partners to effectively implement air quality compliance measures that adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
The Senior Environmental Scientist will work closely with Environmental Field Specialists and other teams within Gas and Electric Operations to ensure alignment with PG&E's objectives and values. The primary goal is to identify and resolve challenges, streamline processes, and mitigate air quality risks. This role will also involve the creation and execution of air quality compliance strategies across PG&E's service territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Provide air quality compliance support for Gas & Electric Transmission facilities, including:
- Assisting with Title V compliance program implementation.
- Coordinating source testing and preparing compliance reports.
- Facilitating inspections and responding to non-compliance issues.
- Support compliance efforts for substation facilities and assist in the implementation of new emission requirements.
- Review and manage air compliance data and ensure accurate reporting.
- Collaborate on projects to maintain air compliance, including permitting and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline, sciences, or engineering.
- Eight years of relevant experience in environmental air quality, demonstrating technical expertise and strong communication skills.
- Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain by the first day of employment.
Desired:
- Master's degree in a related field or MBA.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental air quality regulations.
- Proficiency in work management systems and data analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
PG&E is committed to providing a competitive salary range based on various factors, including skills, experience, and market conditions. The estimated salary range for this position is:
California Minimum: $123,384
California Maximum: $165,204
