Student Work Study Position Overview

Position Title: Football Assistant

Department: Athletics - Football

Classification: Student Work Study

Location: Athletic Facilities

Compensation: $8.00 per hour

Supervisor: Head Football Coach or their designated representative.

Employment Duration: The employment term for all student work study positions spans from the start of the academic year to the conclusion of the Spring semester. Both supervisors and student workers retain the right to terminate employment at any point during this period. All candidates eligible for student work study must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours throughout their employment while adhering to academic standards as outlined by institutional policies and federal financial aid regulations.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Head Football Coach or their appointed staff, the Football Assistant is tasked with supporting all game day and practice operations alongside overall team administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commit to the College's Mission - Dodge City Community College fosters a student-centered learning atmosphere where individuals can achieve their educational, personal, and professional aspirations.
  • Assist coaching staff and athletic administration with team and facility management during both game days and practices, including but not limited to, team laundry, sanitation of facilities and equipment, and tidying up locker rooms and other areas.
  • Help prepare equipment for games and practices for the Football team or other teams/events as directed by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.
  • Support game day operations as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, which may include ticket taking, scoreboard management, concession stand operations, filming, etc.
  • Assist with any clerical or administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, including but not limited to, office work, copying of team documents, etc.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be enrolled in and maintain six (6) credit hours at Dodge City Community College.
  • Must uphold good academic standing.
  • Availability during evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dependable and responsible individual.
  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Capacity to follow detailed instructions.
  • General understanding of athletics.
  • Self-motivated.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, stoop, jump, kneel, stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods to demonstrate sports activities.
  • Capability to transport equipment to and from practices and games.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and ramps throughout the campus.
