Position Title: Men's Basketball Program Assistant

Department: Athletics - Men's Basketball

Classification: Student Work Study

Location: Athletic Facilities

Compensation: $8.00 per hour

Supervisor: Head Men's Basketball Coach or designated staff member.

Employment Duration: The term of employment for all student work study positions spans from the start of the academic year to the conclusion of the Spring semester. Both supervisors and student workers retain the right to terminate employment at any point during this period. All candidates eligible for student work study must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours throughout their employment while adhering to academic standards as specified by institutional policies and federal financial aid regulations.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Head Men's Basketball Coach or their appointed staff, the Men's Basketball Program Assistant is tasked with supporting all game day and practice operations, as well as overall team management.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Commit to the Mission of the College: Dodge City Community College fosters a student-centered learning environment where individuals can achieve their educational, personal, and career aspirations.
  • Assist coaching staff and athletic administration with team and facility management during game days and practices, including but not limited to, team laundry, sanitizing and cleaning of facilities and equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in locker rooms and other areas.
  • Prepare equipment for games and practices for the Men's Basketball team or other teams/events as directed by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.
  • Support game day operations as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, including but not limited to, ticket collection, scoreboard management, concession stand operations, filming, etc.
  • Assist with any administrative tasks or office duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, including but not limited to, office work, copying of team materials, etc.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.

  1. Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be enrolled in and maintain six (6) credit hours at Dodge City Community College.
  • Must uphold good academic standing.
  • Availability during evenings and weekends.

  • Dependable and responsible.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • General knowledge of athletics.
  • Self-motivated.
  1. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to bend, stoop, jump, kneel, stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods to demonstrate sports activities.
  • Ability to transport equipment to and from practices and games.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and ramps throughout the campus.
