Position Title: Men's Basketball Program Assistant

Department: Athletics - Men's Basketball

Classification: Student Work Study

Location: Athletic Facilities

Compensation: $8.00 per hour

Supervisor: Head Men's Basketball Coach or designated staff member.

Employment Duration: The employment term for all student work study positions spans from the start of the academic year to the conclusion of the Spring semester. Both supervisors and student workers retain the right to terminate employment at any point during this period. All candidates eligible for student work study must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours while upholding good academic standing as per institutional policies and federal financial aid regulations.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Head Men's Basketball Coach or their appointed staff, the Men's Basketball Program Assistant is tasked with supporting all game day and practice operations, in addition to overall team management.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Embrace and commit to the College's Mission: Dodge City Community College fosters a student-centered learning environment that empowers students to achieve their educational, personal, and career aspirations.
  • Assist coaching staff and athletic administration with team and facility management during both game days and practices, including but not limited to, team laundry, sanitizing and cleaning of facilities and equipment, and tidying locker rooms and other areas.
  • Support the preparation of equipment for games and practices for the Men's Basketball team or other teams/events as directed by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.
  • Assist with game day operations as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, including but not limited to, ticket taking, scoreboard management, concession stand operations, filming, etc.
  • Provide assistance with any office tasks or administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration, including but not limited to, office work, copying of team materials, etc.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or athletic administration.

  1. Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be enrolled in and maintain six (6) credit hours at Dodge City Community College.
  • Must remain in good academic standing.
  • Availability during evenings and weekends.
  1. Preferred Qualifications
  • Dependable and responsible.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • General knowledge of athletics.
  • Self-motivated.
  1. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to bend, stoop, jump, kneel, stand, walk, and be on your feet for up to 3 hours a day to demonstrate sports activities.
  • Ability to transport equipment to and from practices and games.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and ramps throughout the campus complex.
