Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optical Technician Instructor to join our team at American Career College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to our students, ensuring they receive the best possible education in the field of optical technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Deliver curriculum in accordance with approved syllabi, using effective teaching methods and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
  • Student Assessment and Evaluation: Administer standardized oral, written, or performance assessments to evaluate student progress and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Course Development and Preparation: Prepare outlines of instructional programs and training schedules according to established course objectives, and develop daily lesson plans to ensure student engagement and understanding.
  • Student Support and Advising: Provide individualized tutorial and/or remedial instruction to students, and offer guidance and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Professional Development: Participate in faculty meetings, professional growth activities, and in-service training sessions to stay current in the field and enhance teaching skills.
Requirements
  • Education: Must be a graduate from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the specialty field or subject area in which they teach.
  • Certification: Certification from the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) or National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) or other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws is required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of occupational (i.e. practical) experience in the subject field in which they teach; or three (3) years of occupational (i.e. practical) experience in the subject field in which they teach (if candidate does not meet the education requirement listed above).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program.
  • Language Skills: Ability to speak before public groups, committees, and meetings, and to effectively communicate with students and colleagues in a diverse and multicultural environment.
