At Apple, we are committed to transforming innovative ideas into exceptional products and services. The Americas Logistics team is in search of a skilled Inventory Control Manager.

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and overseeing inventory control operations to ensure the highest standards of inventory accuracy and efficiency within the Apple Americas Logistics distribution network, including our third-party logistics partners (3PLs).

This role requires direct collaboration with Apple Finance to manage inventory control activities in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. The ideal candidate will be a relationship builder and an influential leader, leveraging their deep understanding of complex systems to deliver comprehensive quantitative analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

This Inventory Control Manager will oversee the performance of Apple and its third-party logistics vendors (3PLs) against established standards and documented process controls. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance performance from team members.
  • Monitoring 3PL KPIs and maintaining effective action plans for underperformance.
  • Collaborating internally and externally to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Bridging Finished Goods, Retail, and AppleCare 3PLs to align common goals and KPIs.
  • Managing a portfolio of vendors, 3PLs, and distribution centers with an annual spend of $100-200M.
  • Recruiting, retaining, and mentoring individual contributors.

Additionally, the manager will:

  • Compare inventory between Apple ERP systems and 3PL WMS to ensure alignment and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor EDI failures and implement management systems to track solutions.
  • Review adjustment requests and root causes to minimize future adjustments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in inventory control and/or logistics.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and evaluating teams to achieve business goals.
  • Solid understanding of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and financial accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP), preferably SAP.
  • Willingness to travel within the Americas as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Critical thinking skills for establishing action plans and assessing their effectiveness.
  • Advanced SAP and Keynote experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative for process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
