POSITION OVERVIEW


A Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in the initiation, commissioning, integration, urgent repairs, and diagnostics of medium voltage electrical switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, PLCs, meters, and various automated devices, along with mechanical adjustments and enhancements.

This position necessitates the establishment, nurturing, and maintenance of strong relationships with all clients, colleagues, sales personnel, and other relevant parties.

Continuous communication with the Customer Response Center (CRC), Supervisor, and direct management is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field Service Technician is tasked with:
- Assisting in the initiation and commissioning of E+I Engineering 15KVAC electrical switchgear.
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and sales representatives.
- Evaluating the operational status of equipment.
- Interacting effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-managing one's schedule with motivation and efficiency.
- Conducting general and preventive maintenance on switchgear.
- Responding promptly to emergency service requests from clients.
- Aiming to deliver a 'first time fix' for equipment issues.
- Providing timely and accurate communication to both internal and external clients.
- Monitoring compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Submitting accurate timecards, expense reports, and other documentation.
- Driving initiatives for Continuous Improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Medium Voltage switchgear or field services is preferred.
- Training in electrical theory and technologies, with experience or military service in relevant roles.
- Familiarity with electrical/electronic testing equipment and principles.
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints related to power control and automation.
- Knowledge of power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills is advantageous.
- Background in electrical power, particularly medium voltage, and experience with various switchgear testing methods is a plus.
- Experience in programming PLCs and HMIs is beneficial.
- Mechanical aptitude is required.
- Proficiency in standard computer applications including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, candidates must successfully pass a drug screening prior to employment.

Additionally, candidates will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment background check.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing (stairs, ladders).
- Regular driving (car, van, truck).

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
- Medium to high noise levels requiring shouting to communicate.
- Working around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
- Use of protective equipment (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirators, masks, etc.).
- Outdoor work without effective weather protection.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel time required ranges from 60% to 80%, depending on the location of residence.
