Key Responsibilities

Your role will focus on identifying challenges and crafting solutions within the manufacturing domain. As a manufacturing engineer, you will collaborate across departments to drive comprehensive enhancements in production processes.

  • Oversee the creation of new or revised manufacturing techniques aimed at minimizing costs while boosting efficiency and quality.
  • Update and maintain process routing systems, ensuring accurate sequences and optimal machining or assembly selections.
  • Guide production staff on process modifications, tooling updates, and expected outputs as necessary.
  • Evaluate product design releases for existing and new components, suggesting modifications to improve manufacturability or reduce expenses.
  • Engage in industrial engineering tasks to provide technical support and guidance for manufacturing operations.
  • Establish and uphold work standards through systematic time studies.
  • Estimate work standards and time values as needed.
  • Document detailed descriptions for each operational task.
  • Analyze and set allowances and new job standards in response to changes in engineering, methods, materials, or job content.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies effectively.
  • Mentor and train fellow engineers in improvement techniques.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement error-proofing methods and processes.
  • Research and recommend enhancements for machinery or assembly tools, including peripheral equipment.
  • Prepare manufacturing cost assessments.
  • Gather and interpret data for statistical process control.
  • Conduct capability assessments.
  • Address corrective action requests.
  • Explore opportunities for improvements in materials, machinery, and tooling.
  • Facilitate and process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for machining or assembly tasks.
  • Assist in developing Quality Management System (QMS) work instructions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a precision machining manufacturing setting.
  • Green Belt Lean/Six Sigma certification or three years of practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations, including methods, processes, tooling, work standards, and cost management.
  • Ability to learn and implement CNC part programming to support machining and robotic operations.
  • Familiarity with part holding or fixture design.
  • Proficient in interpreting detailed drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of metric measurements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-driven with a commitment to achieving results.
  • Adaptability to changing conditions and job responsibilities.
  • Collaborative team player.

Work Environment

This position is situated in a manufacturing/warehouse setting and reports to the Senior Industrial Engineer.
