KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your expertise in analyzing and resolving manufacturing challenges is crucial. As a manufacturing engineer, you will collaborate across departments to implement comprehensive enhancements in production methodologies.

  • Oversee the creation of new or revised manufacturing techniques aimed at minimizing costs while maximizing efficiency and quality.
  • Update and maintain process routing systems, ensuring optimal sequences for machining or assembly, along with tooling identification and efficiency metrics to achieve cost-effective production.
  • When necessary, guide production staff on process updates, tooling adjustments, program modifications, expected outputs, and other relevant information.
  • Evaluate product design releases for both existing and new components, suggesting design modifications that enhance manufacturability or reduce expenses.
  • Conduct industrial engineering tasks to offer technical support, guidance, and services in manufacturing.
  • Establish and uphold work standards through time studies and other prescribed methods.
  • Estimate work standards and time values as needed.
  • Document detailed descriptions for each operational task.
  • Analyze and set allowances and new job standards in response to changes in engineering, methods, materials, tooling, equipment, or job specifications.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies effectively.
  • Provide mentorship or training to fellow engineers on improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement mistake-proofing techniques in processes.
  • Research, assess, and recommend replacements for purchasing additional machinery or assembly tools, including ancillary equipment.
  • Prepare manufacturing cost estimates.
  • Gather and analyze data for statistical process control.
  • Conduct capability assessments.
  • Address corrective action requests.
  • Explore opportunities for enhancements in materials, machinery, and tooling.
  • Facilitate and process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for machining or assembly operations.
  • Assist in drafting Quality Management System (QMS) work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a precision machining manufacturing setting.
  • Green Belt Lean/Six Sigma certification or three (3) years of practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles and tools.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including methods, tooling, work standards, plant layout, and cost management.
  • Ability to develop and implement CNC part programming to support machining and robotic operations effectively.
  • Familiarity with part holding or fixture design.
  • Proficient in interpreting detailed drawings, sketches, notes, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of metric dimensions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-driven with a robust desire for achievement.
  • Adaptability to changing conditions and job responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates within a manufacturing and warehouse setting.
