Position Details

Job Title: Client Support Team Leader

Program: North A, Roseville Road, Grove, Stockton Blvd.

Reports To: CSA Supervisor or Program Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Shift: Day, Swing, Grave (as assigned)

Role Summary

As a pivotal member of the team, the Client Support Team Leader will assist in maintaining the effective operation of the shelter and ensuring the welfare of clients. In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a Client Support Associate, the Team Leader will oversee task delegation and support the CSA team during their assigned shifts, serving as a communication bridge between shelter management and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide and facilitate the transition of guests from intake areas to shelter accommodations; provide tours of essential facilities.
  • Establish and uphold community guidelines and safety protocols for clients on-site.
  • Promote a professional and supportive environment for the scheduled CSAs on shift.
  • Address and assist with minor client and staff concerns, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Delegate tasks and assist CSA staff in their designated roles.
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable populations to management.
  • Assist clients in accessing their belongings and facilitate their exit from the facility as needed.
  • Manage the receipt, processing, distribution, and storage of donations from the public.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of assigned shelter areas while managing client belongings.
  • Conduct facility cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Ensure regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Document daily activities and incidents clearly and legibly.
  • Complete all assigned tasks and reports by the end of the shift, ensuring smooth communication with the next shift.
  • Review site information by examining daily notes and incident reports.
  • Demonstrate leadership and mentoring capabilities while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Adapt to outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Program Director.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least six months of relevant experience, preferably in social services or a shelter environment.
  • Preferred: Sixty (60) college units or more beyond high school.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and address problems involving concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in using computers and basic office equipment.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments under various weather conditions. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Additional Requirements
  • Background check and TB test are mandatory.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Preferred certifications: CPR, First Aid, and NARCAN.
  • Understanding of the unique needs of the homeless population.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and stressful situations with composure.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
