Job Overview

**Metal Additive Manufacturing Engineer**

We are seeking a skilled Metal Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Imperial Machine & Tool Co.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing process plans for metal additive manufacturing techniques, with a focus on Laser Powder Bed Fusion.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Develop and execute raw materials characterization and data retention protocols
  • Provide technical support to sales and estimating teams for RFQs related to additive components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on job kickoff requirements reviews
  • Prepare customer part models for 3D metal printing in CAD software
  • Create build project files for 3D metal printing
  • Manage job scheduling and execution, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality components
  • Supervise AM operators and their tasks, providing guidance and training as needed
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and record keeping, ensuring compliance with quality management system requirements
  • Perform and retain data for component and material testing, analyzing results to inform process improvements
  • Ensure quality management system requirements are met, updating and developing QMS documents as needed
  • Support sales and business development activities, providing technical expertise to drive business growth

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Experience with metal laser powder bed fusion technologies, including process optimization and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of metal AM post-processing techniques, including surface finishing and heat treatment
  • Proficiency in CAD software and AM data preparation tools, such as Geomagic and Magics
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems, including ISO-9001:2015 and AS9100D
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and customer service teams
