Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and strategize workforce deployment, spatial requirements, and workflow to design equipment and workspace layouts that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Innovate, assess, and refine manufacturing techniques.
  • Utilize statistical analysis to forecast future manufacturing needs.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and standard work protocols.
  • Estimate production timelines, staffing necessities, and associated costs to inform management decisions.
  • Facilitate activities aimed at resolving production challenges, enhancing product reliability, and reducing costs.
  • Support daily troubleshooting efforts to optimize the output of quality products.
  • Implement corrective measures to address process discrepancies and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to the development of new prototypes and their transition into full-scale production.
  • Investigate customer feedback when necessary.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to determine optimal assembly and fabrication techniques.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to set standards and establish quality and reliability goals for finished products.
  • Lead improvement initiatives, employing Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, and other operational excellence methodologies to drive enhancements.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of incremental capital and process enhancements.
  • Gather detailed quotations or designs and estimates for fixtures, tools, and engineering requirements to prepare formal proposals for management review.
  • Identify and facilitate Kaizen events as needed.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and other factors to streamline production processes.
  • Supervise the installation and testing of machines, facilities, and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develop models for alternative processing to assess the feasibility of new system applications and recommend methods for implementing improved procedures.
  • Adhere to all operational procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality, and Environmental programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (5+ years) in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in metal fabrication and/or manufacturing settings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in metal-cutting operations, grinding, and tooling manufacturing.
  • Strong background in manufacturing and processing engineering, including CNC machining, metal forming, and welding.
  • Extensive understanding of general machining practices.
  • Ability to specify processes for component manufacturing and resolve machining issues through tooling, gauging, and fixturing.
  • Proficient in estimating machining cycles, conducting method analyses, and performing project evaluations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Pro-E, and MasterCAM is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is also required.
