Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Assistant Project Manager to join our team at KCI Construction. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in all facets of assigned projects, including safety, planning, project schedule, project documentation, managing risk, profitability, and overall day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis: Assist the Project Manager in analyzing profit projections monthly and determining recommended actions on overruns.
  • Cost Management: Help prepare cost books, monitor costs, and correct posting errors.
  • Contract Management: Work alongside the Project Manager to execute subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Scheduling: Collaborate on the preparation and updates of project schedules.
  • Resource Allocation: Help determine the most cost-effective use of construction methods and personnel, material, and equipment.
  • Project Coordination: Assist the Project Manager in maintaining effective and efficient coordination of field and office activities on assigned projects.
  • Procurement: Partner with the Project Manager to purchase major materials and award subcontracts at the most competitive price.
  • Invoice Management: Code and approve subcontractor and material invoices in a timely fashion.
  • Documentation: Help assemble, submit, and track monthly invoices to the Owner.
  • As-Built Drawings: Monitor the maintenance of as-built drawings with the Superintendent and ensure they are transferred to permanent records.
  • Submittals: Assist in the submittal process to ensure accuracy and timeliness to support project schedules.
  • Design and Detail: Work to resolve design and detail problems with owners, engineers, architects, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Project Progress: Prepare and update project progress schedules at various stages (pre-bid, post-award, etc.) in coordination with the Superintendent.
  • Material and Subcontract Coordination: Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with progress schedules and adjust as necessary due to changes.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the company representative/liaison with the Owner, Architect, and Engineer.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2+ years in civil construction.
  • Skills: Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail, effective interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles, ability to read and interpret drawings, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, and HCSS.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
  • Physical Demands: The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, with limited exposure to physical risk.
