Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst for Decision Support & Finance plays a pivotal role in executing cost-benefit evaluations for prospective decisions, assessing the financial implications of new healthcare initiatives, and engaging in financial audits to ensure compliance and accuracy. This position is essential for fostering data-driven decision-making throughout our healthcare system. The role demands exceptional analytical capabilities, coupled with specialized financial and operational expertise, to furnish administrators with detailed data analyses that are crucial for strategic decision-making and organizational success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the financial acumen of departmental leadership to promote adherence to financial objectives and tackle unique financial challenges.
  • Conducting thorough cost analyses of healthcare services and procedures to ascertain actual expenses, including identifying direct and indirect costs, allocating overheads, and evaluating cost drivers.
  • Collaborating with finance teams and department heads to formulate precise budgets for healthcare services.
  • Forecasting future costs and financial performance based on historical data and anticipated changes.
  • Monitoring and analyzing discrepancies between budgeted and actual costs, identifying reasons for variances, and providing insights to management for corrective actions.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, summaries, and performance metrics to key stakeholders within the healthcare system, which are vital for strategic decision-making and optimizing financial performance.
  • Working with various stakeholders to understand their data requirements and delivering decision support insights to facilitate strategic planning and operational enhancements.
  • Analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities for process optimization and cost efficiencies.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across databases and reporting systems.
  • Developing and maintaining standardized reporting templates and financial models for departmental use.
  • Monitoring and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate departmental performance, generating timely and accurate reports.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance financial and support processes, contributing to increased efficiency and effectiveness in data analysis and financial management.
  • Collaborating with IT teams to improve data collection, integration, and analytical capabilities.
  • Serving as the financial expert for specific departments within the Health System, understanding their unique financial challenges and objectives.
  • Conducting financial analyses, variance analysis, and identifying areas for financial improvement or cost containment.
  • Providing ongoing financial training, support, and guidance to managers to enhance their financial literacy and decision-making skills.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and advancements in data analytics and financial management.
  • Engaging in project management, particularly in data integration and optimization projects.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, health informatics, or a related field, along with three years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial analysis, or project management. Experience in data analysis, decision support, and financial analysis within a healthcare context is preferred. A Master's degree in a related field is also preferred.
