Position Overview

This role is essential in providing procurement and planning assistance to Proterra's Sourcing Commodity Manager and the site leadership team. As a critical component of the supply chain, you will be responsible for coordinating material requirements planning to support production schedules for both existing and new products, as well as design modifications. Your goal will be to minimize raw material inventories while effectively reducing purchasing costs and enhancing customer service. You will also manage excess and obsolete inventory costs while aligning with business objectives. Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, manufacturing, engineering, service, quality control, and quality assurance, will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze forecasts, actual demand, schedules, and inventory to influence manufacturing and procurement decisions.
  2. Determine material needs based on manufacturing production schedules, engineering requirements, and validation studies.
  3. Review and assess weekly requirements for raw materials, components, and finished goods to meet specific production schedules.
  4. Prioritize, schedule, and expedite the delivery of material components to meet target dates and avoid stock shortages.
  5. Participate in design reviews and production meetings to provide updates on material status in support of production schedules.
  6. Generate and issue purchase requisitions for procurement through approved suppliers for raw materials and components.
  7. Address order fulfillment issues with management and key customers, proposing mitigation strategies regularly.
  8. Manage inventory levels by maintaining optimal quality and cost standards.
  9. Prepare material planning inventory reports and presentations as needed.
  10. Provide management control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  11. Develop reports that measure performance and drive improvements throughout the supply chain.
  12. Collaborate with other business units on inventory and logistics planning, forecasting, cost reduction initiatives, and quality system enhancements.
  13. Resolve discrepancies in packing slips, invoices, and memorandums to ensure timely availability of materials and vendor payments.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Your Experience Includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing principles, including research, analysis, negotiation, and closing various types of purchase efforts ethically.
  • Experience in organizing complex work assignments and operating independently within procedural guidelines.
  • Expertise in report writing and system configuration management.

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or advanced degree.

Travel: 0 - 10%
