Overview

The Material Handler role is essential for the efficient movement of goods within the warehouse or distribution center. This position involves utilizing forklifts and other lifting equipment to ensure that production areas are adequately supplied with materials and that finished products are effectively transported to storage locations, thereby supporting continuous operational flow and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities


• Comply with all safety protocols and procedures while operating lifting equipment.

• Organize and stack freight systematically according to established safety and quality guidelines.

• Strategically plan the movement of freight in a timely manner based on the layout and volume of assigned tasks.

• Conduct inspections and operate forklift machinery.

• Execute tasks related to the transportation of goods from one location to another.

• Supply production areas with necessary materials or transfer finished goods to storage.

• Regularly monitor product quality and report any issues to prevent complications.

• Sort and process materials as instructed.

• Pack and organize boxes or pallets in accordance with weight restrictions.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation of materials to ensure inventory accuracy.

• Assemble orders from stock and arrange them on pallets or shelves, or move them to designated areas.

• Meet daily productivity benchmarks.

• Provide prompt feedback to management regarding fulfillment challenges, inventory inconsistencies, or safety concerns.

• Operate RF devices as required.

• Ensure timely shipping and receiving of goods.

• Assist the Inventory Control team as necessary.

• Uphold quality compliance standards.

• Implement 5S standards for organization and cleanliness.

• Participate in cross-training for various warehouse functions as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must complete forklift training provided by the company, including annual updates.

• Ability to operate material handling equipment as directed by supervisors.

• Capable of working in a highly organized and color-coded environment.

• Effective communication skills with team members at all levels.

• Ability to work independently without supervision.

• Strong teamwork capabilities.

• Proficient in reading labels and numbers.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Follow instructions as given by supervisors.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a warehouse setting is required.

• Prior experience operating forklifts is required.

• Leadership experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or RF Unit systems is advantageous.
