Position Title: CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Department: Facilities Maintenance

Supervisor: Construction Supervisor

Compensation: $21.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Flexible shifts based on operational needs:

Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events is essential.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering expert construction assistance and managing the upkeep of resort and guest facilities, adhering to the Resort's commitment to environmental sustainability. This role involves collaborating with the Construction Supervisor on various capital projects, including new constructions and renovations across the resort and lodging facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

Collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance and Construction Supervisors on repair and construction tasks.

Execute renovation projects within guest accommodations.

Provide mentorship and training to junior Maintenance Technicians on repair and construction activities.

Adhere to safety protocols and standards for all projects and the use of tools and equipment.

Follow the no-idling policy.

Support the recycling initiatives of the organization.

Maintain a safe and tidy work environment while conducting repairs and installations.

Ensure proper cleanup after tasks are completed.

Dispose of recyclables and waste appropriately.

Address and resolve maintenance concerns reported by guests and staff promptly and professionally.

Effectively prioritize and complete assigned tasks.

Engage in regular building inspections and tours.

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as required.

Assist other departments with moving furniture, making enhancements, and managing supplies as operationally feasible.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

Proficient in high-level maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and repairs in the following areas:


PAINTING AND DRYWALL

Deliver a polished appearance in guest accommodations, offices, and communal areas.

Manage inventory of painting supplies.

Request supplies as necessary.

Organize and prioritize assigned projects effectively.

Conduct thorough preparation work to ensure quality painting results, including drywall repairs.

Execute painting tasks with precision and efficiency while maintaining a clean workspace.

Demonstrate proficiency in various painting techniques.

Install and finish drywall.


CARPENTRY AND CONSTRUCTION

Construct and repair wooden structures and fixtures throughout the property.

Build, restore, and install counters, cabinets, partitions, flooring, doors, and framework.

Install glass in windows, doors, and partitions.

Exhibit expertise in finish carpentry.

Knowledge of commercial carpentry is preferred.

Basic plumbing and electrical skills are advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's Degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred, along with 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent experience of 7-10 years. Extensive knowledge of hand tools, power tools, drywalling, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and construction is essential.


TECHNICAL SKILLS

Proficient in internet navigation and email communication. Familiarity with Guest Ware 4 and SMS is beneficial. Ability to use two-way radios for communication with maintenance staff.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

A valid U.S. Driver's License in good standing is required.


LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in various settings. Proficiency in basic math skills is necessary.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift/move over 100 pounds regularly. Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
