Histology-Cytology Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to lead our Histology-Cytology Laboratory at Cambridge Health Alliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational leadership and oversight to ensure the highest quality technical performance in accordance with our service delivery goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Assist the Laboratory Director in interviewing, orienting, and training new employees
- Responsible for annual reviews and competency evaluations of all staff
- Develop and periodically review procedures and policies for the department
- Operational Management
- Manage the inventory of supplies, purchasing, and budgeting for the department
- Ensure the laboratory is in a state of readiness for CAP, JCAHO, and CLIAA inspections
- Participate in committees and task force meetings as required
- Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular department meetings with staff to relay information and seek input
- Review and maintain quality control data and instrument maintenance records
- Work closely with pathologists and staff to ensure adherence to established turn-around-times parameters
- Human Resources and Team Building
- Provide a leadership role in developing a productive work team
- Engage staff in improvement efforts and conduct audits as needed
- Effectively manage scheduling and staffing needs
- Education and Certification
- Histology (HT) Certification required
- Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science or Chemistry preferred
- 5 years of full-time applicable experience within the last 10 years
- Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong experience in processing, fixation, microtomy, and staining of surgical specimens
- Immunohistochemistry experience required
- Experience with instrumentation, troubleshooting, and quality control systems
- Computer skills essential, including Word, Excel, and Meditech
- Additional Requirements
- Strong human resources and team building skills
- Familiarity with CAP accreditation requirements
- Knowledge of Cytology Lab
