Position Overview:
The Laboratory Sample Management Coordinator plays a crucial role within a diverse team, facilitating the oversight of biological specimens in support of both clinical and nonclinical research initiatives. This position is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of samples while ensuring that laboratory operations adhere to the highest standards of quality, following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the handling and accessioning of samples for various studies.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the storage, retrieval, shipping, and disposal of samples.
- Maintain the integrity of the sample chain of custody and accurately update shipment logs.
- Facilitate the export/import processes within the Watson Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Assist in designing study parameters and resolving any discrepancies found during reconciliation.
- Conduct quality control checks on import/export files and communicate issues to the Sample Manager.
- Generate and verify sample labels, ensuring accuracy against manifests.
- Coordinate the delivery and receipt of samples with bioanalytical teams.
- Maintain comprehensive study binders containing sample receipt forms and shipment records.
- Ensure proper inventory management and archival of physical documentation.
- Collaborate with global teams to review and enhance SOPs for continuous improvement.
- Engage with Quality Assurance to assist in the development and revision of SOPs and address audit findings.
- Manage laboratory equipment maintenance and supply needs.
- Submit IT support requests for technical issues and coordinate vendor maintenance.
- Become proficient in using Watson LIMS, SAM HD, and related applications.
Essential Skills:

- Commitment to compliance with quality and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 0-1 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with GLP and GCLP standards.
- Understanding of laboratory organization and operational protocols.
- Motivated to contribute positively to the team and organization.
