Job Summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a highly skilled BOC Specialist 4 to join our team. As a key member of our building automation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Call and Site Coordination:
    • Collaborate with our call center team to identify and resolve issues with our building systems.
    • Assist other trades in the field with troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
    • Monitor system alarms and provide timely reports to ensure prompt response to system issues.
  • System Operations:
    • Monitor and maintain the performance of our building management systems.
    • Perform regular backups of application software and ensure network integrity of control devices.
    • Debug and simulate programs, check calibration of hardware and software devices, and configure parameters to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Perform regular function checks of all control systems and document results.
    • Set up alarms to optimize system efficiency and response times.
  • Service:
    • Respond to service calls by identifying the root cause of issues and implementing effective solutions.
    • Work with customers to develop and implement maintenance programs for their systems.
  • Performance Quality:
    • Perform all work in accordance with contract documents and company standards.
    • Meet required response times and facilitate others to meet response times.
    • Develop and maintain procedures and checklists for service calls, system routine maintenance, and commissioning tasks.
  • Communications:
    • Keep clients and the call center informed of questions, progress, and discrepancies in system issues.
    • Initiate follow-up action to secure timely responses.
    • Escalate building issues to the proper entities using real-time judgment.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma with 8-10 years of progressive experience in the building controls industry.
    • Vocational school or associate degree in a technical trade is preferred.
    • Three years of experience with BAS monitoring and DDC controls.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including sequence of operations, technical product literature, programming manuals, and specifications.
    • Ability to troubleshoot basic communications wiring, control logic wiring, and end devices.
    • Knowledge of building mechanical and electrical equipment functions and use, HVAC systems controls applications, and relevant hardware and software products.
    • Knowledge of commonly used networks and network topologies.
    • Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for extended periods.
    • Ability to work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations.
    • Good customer communication skills.
    • Clearable US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain HSPD and Secret, preferred HSPD-12 and Secret Active.
