Construction Manager

Location: Bethesda, MD

Role Summary

The Construction Manager will deliver engineering and project management support across various locations, focusing on a range of tasks and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate pre-final contract drawings and specifications, ensuring constructability and alignment with actual field conditions for both design-bid-build and design-build projects.
  • Facilitate essential post-award contract meetings, including kickoff sessions, preconstruction conferences, and final inspections.
  • Assess and recommend acceptance or rejection of contractor administrative submissions, including schedules and quality control plans.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of technical submissions, ensuring timely processing of shop drawings and product data.
  • Manage contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensure prompt responses.
  • Promote effective communication among project stakeholders, including project managers and technical teams.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines, initiating corrective actions as necessary to maintain funding thresholds.
  • Conduct site visits to track progress and gather input from Engineering Technician/Quality Assurance representatives.
  • Attend quality control meetings and provide project status updates to senior personnel.
  • Assist in managing Post Construction Award Services (PCAS) as needed.
  • Support the coordination of government-furnished equipment delivery and installation.
  • Aid in the preparation of property record inventory documents in accordance with relevant guidelines.
  • Identify the need for modifications to project scope, cost, or schedule based on collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Prepare Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) when required.
  • Provide technical support for claims and disputes processing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture.
  • Over 10 years of experience in construction management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and management methodologies.
  • Secret clearance is mandatory.

Skills and Competencies

  • Preferred registration as a professional engineer or architect in a US state or territory.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and practical experience in construction management.
  • Proficient in reviewing complex engineering specifications and statements of work.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, across all leadership levels.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Competence in preparing cost estimates and negotiating change orders.
  • Proficient in software applications such as MS Office and Primavera P6.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
