Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. is a cooperative dedicated to providing reliable and affordable electricity. We are seeking a Financial Project Controls Specialist to join our team in the Finance and Accounting department.

Position Summary:

The Financial Project Controls (FPC) team is tasked with the establishment, upkeep, and management of financial oversight for various projects within Tri-State's corporate sectors, including generation and transmission initiatives. The primary role of the FPC Specialist involves supporting the Capital and O&M Financial Project Controls Manager in the analysis and reporting of financial data associated with project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of financial processes to ensure accurate reporting for Capital and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support Tri-State's objectives by monitoring project budgets, forecasting financial requirements, and ensuring compliance with corporate regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between the FPC team and project managers to facilitate the development of project budgets and forecasts.
  • Evaluate project performance metrics and collaborate with project managers to establish effective performance indicators.
  • Prepare and refine presentations and materials for effective communication of financial information.
  • Support the preparation and review of financial documents, including monthly reports and variance analyses.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of business processes within the department.
  • Ensure adherence to external regulatory requirements and assist in audit preparations.
  • Promote Tri-State's mission of delivering reliable and responsible electricity to its members.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Understanding of automated systems and the ability to assist in their development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Knowledge of project accounting best practices and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in financial analysis, cost tracking, and project management, with a minimum of eight years in relevant roles.
