Position Overview

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION ASSOCIATE | KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with Project Managers, regulatory bodies, clients, field personnel, and subcontractors in an office setting.
  • Assist in the planning of sampling and data acquisition for various environmental media including air, vapor, soil, surface water, stormwater, groundwater, hazardous waste, non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs), and wastewater for laboratory analysis.
  • Thoroughly review documentation to record field operations (field logbooks, soil/rock boring logs, well construction diagrams, etc.).
  • Utilize scientific and engineering methodologies to design, collect, and interpret environmental data.
  • Implement standard practices and techniques in specific scenarios, adjust and correlate data, identify inconsistencies in results, and follow procedures through a series of detailed steps.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of mechanical and electronic systems, including pumps, remediation systems, and monitoring equipment.
  • Conduct monitoring, remediation, and compliance tasks, which include but are not limited to:
    • Collecting environmental samples for laboratory evaluation, including soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, air, stormwater, and wastewater.
    • Overseeing the planning of drilling operations, monitoring/recovery well construction, site surveying, and remedy implementation.
    • Logging soil and rock cores.
    • Managing the operation and maintenance of remedial systems.
    • Documenting, packaging, and shipping environmental samples, along with the proper management, characterization, and handling of waste (both hazardous and non-hazardous).

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION ASSOCIATE | REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Ability to work effectively in an office environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability and a strong curiosity for problem-solving, along with a commitment to learning and achieving success, attention to detail, and maintaining high energy and engagement levels.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, including mechanical aptitude and resourcefulness in diagnosing and resolving field issues.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret work plans, maps, designs, and construction documents.
  • Effective time management skills, with the capacity to multitask and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Preparation of clear and concise reports that incorporate tabular, numerical, and graphical presentations and analyses of environmental data.
  • Ability to interact professionally and positively with colleagues, clients, vendors, the public, and other business contacts.

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION ASSOCIATE | POSITION DETAILS

  • This is a full-time role requiring flexible hours, including some weekend and holiday work.
  • Travel may be required up to 50% with overnight stays and occasional weekends.

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION ASSOCIATE | EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • A valid Driver's License is required for insurability purposes.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field (such as environmental engineering, chemistry, or biology) is required.
  • Proficiency in standard applications within the Microsoft Office suite is essential.
  • Two to five years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER and confined space certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/GIS is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with producing regulatory deliverables and relevant state environmental agencies is helpful.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted 50% in the field and 50% in the office.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and communicate effectively. The ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds is necessary. The position involves sitting 75% of the time and standing/walking 25% of the time.
