Job Summary

Oregon State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Administration and Chief of Staff to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-month, professional faculty position that requires a strong leader with a proven track record of strategic planning, talent management, and budget development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic plans and IT roadmaps to drive the university's mission and goals.
  • Provide leadership for the Office of the CIO and oversee the annual IT Roadmap, IT Talent Development & Management, program project portfolio, and financial and human resource planning and allocations.
  • Improve UIT operational effectiveness by streamlining processes, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to advance priorities and initiatives.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant area or similar qualification or at least 5 years of equivalent knowledge and skills developed through professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in IT management, strategic planning, and/or talent management.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategic plans and IT roadmaps.
  • Experience in workforce management, including talent planning, development, upskilling, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development and financial planning.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement and collaboration across departments.
  • Experience working in higher education providing vision/strategy at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the CIO's interests effectively.
  • Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity that involves actively promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of organizational culture and decision-making processes.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years' experience in program management, finance, or human resources.
  • Master's degree in a relevant area.
  • Talent Management, or human resource certification
  • Proficiency in developing and managing performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate the impact of AI, market competition, and financial considerations on IT staffing models and job design.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
