Job Summary

Oregon State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Administration and Chief of Staff to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-month, professional faculty position that requires a strong leader with a proven track record of managing talent, resources, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic plans and IT roadmaps to drive organizational success.
  • Provide leadership for the Office of the CIO and improve UIT operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the annual IT Roadmap, IT Talent Development & Management, program project portfolio, and financial and human resource planning and allocations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the CIO Executive Team and respond to time-sensitive and urgent situations.
  • Develop and oversee the management of the UIT budget and balance daily tasks with a broader portfolio of project work.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant area or similar qualification or at least 5 years of equivalent knowledge and skills developed through professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in IT management, strategic planning, and/or talent management.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategic plans and IT roadmaps.
  • Experience in workforce management, including talent planning, development, upskilling, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development and financial planning.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement and collaboration across departments.
  • Experience working in higher education providing vision/strategy at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the CIO's interests effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years' experience in program management, finance, or human resources.
  • Master's degree in a relevant area.
  • Talent Management, or human resource certification.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate the impact of AI, market competition, and financial considerations on IT staffing models and job design.
