Summary:
Eligible for up to $500 in Bonuses Applicable to external candidates only.

Shifts are primarily from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with variable days off. Schedules may adjust based on departmental needs, and flexibility for weekends and holidays is required.

Please note: Positions in Food Services, café, and barista roles do not receive tips.

This role involves taking customer orders and facilitating service along with food and beverage sales, or managing an efficient meal service trayline. Employees may be assigned to either function and will receive cross-training in both areas. Food handling tasks are performed in accordance with both external and internal guidelines, ensuring minimal waste while maintaining high-quality output. Responsibilities include accurate cash handling, adherence to internal procedures, and compliance with established standards. Employees are accountable for the precision of all assembled orders, maintaining inventory levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring product rotation for optimal quality. Given the extensive interaction with customers, strong customer service skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare espresso orders for patients, staff, and visitors, utilizing standard recipes and plating guidelines; assist customers with inquiries regarding menu items and recipes; employ suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
  2. Operate the patient trayline accurately and efficiently to meet specified timelines; plate and garnish food items according to the assigned menu.
  3. Prepare patient orders in accordance with menu guidelines; set up trays as per established protocols; disassemble patient tray carts and clean/store small wares within designated timelines.
  4. Deliver patient meal orders following meal delivery protocols.
  5. Utilize all functions of the Point-of-Sale (POS) system to process payments for products or services; reconcile cash bank and daily receipts at the end of the shift according to established procedures; report discrepancies to management.
  6. Maintain accurate inventory levels for customer service, merchandising, and trayline service areas; complete necessary production and inventory documentation.
  7. Collaborate effectively with staff, vendors, and the public to deliver exceptional service; maintain professional conduct when interacting with suppliers and customers.
  8. Participate in required safety training programs and articulate responsibilities related to safety protocols and job-related hazards.
  9. Adhere to hospital exposure control plans and demonstrate knowledge of protective measures; ensure a safe working environment.
  10. Exhibit respect and consideration for all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues to foster a professional and courteous atmosphere.
  11. Promote effective teamwork and collaboration within the department to achieve organizational goals; attend staff meetings as required.
  12. Follow safety and hygiene standards as mandated by the department; maintain cleanliness in the workspace.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • One year of relevant experience in hospitality, retail, or healthcare services, or a combination of experience and education demonstrating the ability to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Possession of a valid Department of Health Food Handlers permit issued by the State of Washington.
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP food handling standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform business math as required by job duties.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and communicating in English to effectively perform job responsibilities.

Desired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in Nutrition or Healthcare.
  • Familiarity with modified diets or healthcare experience.
  • Understanding of POS system operations.
  • Knowledge of trayline services and food handling practices.
