Job Summary

The Supervisor of the Athletic Trainer Program is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Training Program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. This role supports the mission, vision, goals, and strategic objectives of the hospital and the Athletic Training Program, ensuring the best interests of our patients are met.

Essential Functions
  • Interfaces between community partners and the COC sports medicine team, including in-office clinical/surgical support, phone consultation, community outreach, and sideline care.
  • Performs supervisory functions, including interviewing, selecting, and providing training for new staff, approving or disapproving recommendations from subordinate staff, and evaluating subordinates' performance.
  • Meets the needs of patients and community partners, providing athletic training services with affiliated high schools and Young Athletes Academy partners, and establishing and maintaining community relations.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the AT Program, ensuring community needs are met and providing support to the Manager with regards to approving YAA partners using a decision matrix.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

  • Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff, including high volume and stressful situations.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.
Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $93,350.40 to $110,198.40
