Position Overview: The Building Automation Controls Specialist serves as a key expert in the realm of Building Automation Systems, encompassing their integral components and associated technologies. This role is essential for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various elements within the comprehensive Building Automation System.

All personnel within the Facilities Department are expected to collaborate effectively for the enhancement of the facility. In consideration of the well-being of patients, visitors, and staff, and due to the critical nature of the systems managed by the Facilities Department, all team members are designated as first responders to facility emergencies, irrespective of the cause or system involved.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnoses, calibrates, repairs, and commissions both field and panel-mounted devices, along with the associated control algorithms for HVAC and environmental automation systems. Monitors and addresses out-of-band conditions related to environmental parameters and equipment alarms.
  • Designs and implements DDC Ladder-Logic programming.
  • Creates and modifies existing front-end control graphics and dashboards.
  • Assists in the design, installation, and commissioning of new automation systems and modifications to existing systems, including but not limited to additional card readers, door controls, device and sensor relocations, VAV controllers, and the integration of various building automation hardware and software.
  • Conducts or supports contractors in the inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of various components or systems, addressing technical matters and ensuring effective communication with dispatch, project coordinators, and engineers.
  • Performs quality control assessments of new projects and aids in retro-commissioning efforts on existing systems to ensure adherence to proper installation practices, codes, and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Credentials:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in building automation control system installation and repair, or a minimum of three (3) years as a controls technician within a healthcare or campus-based organization.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and/or weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to travel between facilities as required.
  • Demonstrated good driving record, in accordance with organizational policy.
