Position Overview

The Lead Control Systems Technician is responsible for executing the installation of hardware and software in accordance with established protocols. This role involves delivering comprehensive information to ensure clarity in design and functionality for clients, Johnson Controls personnel, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate jobsite activities related to the physical placement of panels and field devices, ensuring compliance with Johnson Controls standards and project specifications.
  • Provide technical support to subcontractors throughout the installation process.
  • Conduct advanced commissioning and system diagnostics, ranging from system-level controllers to end devices such as sensors and actuators, while completing all necessary commissioning documentation.
  • Effectively communicate project statuses to management and provide monthly forecasts regarding revenue, costs, and gross margins.
  • Calibrate systems utilizing basic electronic testing equipment.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
  • Document modifications and supply information for as-built documentation.
  • Engage with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and prior to departing the work site.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in mandatory safety training.
  • Maintain a strong focus on the safety of employees and subcontractors.
Qualifications

Required:

  • A two-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a related field, or a minimum of five years of industry experience in the installation and commissioning of electronic and/or mechanical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical circuitry, and HVAC controls.
  • Proficiency in the engineering process, including the use of project-level tools for generating collateral and documenting job progress.
  • Demonstrated capability to efficiently startup and commission advanced control systems, while providing mentorship and basic leadership to junior technicians as assigned.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ethically and professionally represent Johnson Controls to clients and external contacts.
  • Ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership skills to oversee Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on-site.
  • PC proficiency and the ability to program HVAC-related software.
