  • Position Overview
    The Junior Research Scientist role is pivotal in advancing the development of AAV candidates for SSi People's preclinical gene therapy initiatives. The selected candidate will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the production and analysis of AAV-based vectors generated through transient transfection in mammalian systems. A solid background in mammalian cell culture and viral vector production is essential, along with a working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as plasmid creation and molecular assays for AAV characterization. Prior experience in AAV vector production is highly advantageous. The candidate should stay informed about relevant literature and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively share findings with team members.
  • Key Responsibilities
    - Execute production and analytical evaluation of AAV vectors utilizing mammalian cell culture.
    - Innovate, refine, and resolve issues in protocols for AAV production methodologies.
    - Maintain comprehensive and precise electronic documentation, ensuring timely submissions.
    - Communicate findings to team members through detailed reports and collaborative discussions.
  • Candidate Profile
    The ideal candidate has a background in viral vector production and cell culture methodologies, with a desire to deepen their expertise in AAV-based gene therapies. They are enthusiastic about acquiring new technological skills in a collaborative and interdisciplinary setting.
  • Essential Qualifications
    - BS/MS degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience.
    - Practical experience with adherent or suspension mammalian cell culture, demonstrating proficiency in aseptic techniques and the ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot new protocols and methodologies.
    - Familiarity with fundamental molecular and analytical techniques, including PCR assays, plasmid preparation, and gel electrophoresis.
    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members.
    - Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently, adapt to evolving circumstances, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    - Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture for the production of viral vectors or recombinant proteins.
    - Previous exposure to bench-scale bioreactors utilizing mammalian platforms.
