Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing a designated team within the realm of Item Processing and Deposit Services. The manager will be responsible for approximately 10 full-time employees, or fewer if the role encompasses various disciplines or intricate functions.

Key Responsibilities:


Supervise the daily operations of a unit within Item Processing and Deposit Services to achieve departmental goals.

Act as a subject matter expert and lead representative for the work group on departmental and bank-wide initiatives as required.


Direct and oversee the activities of assigned personnel to ensure adherence to organizational policies, departmental procedures, and external regulations, thereby minimizing compliance risks to the bank.

Provide leadership, mentorship, constructive feedback, and training to team members.

Compile monthly performance data for unit activities to facilitate management decision-making.

Contribute to tactical planning and short-term projects as necessary.

Regularly assess unit processes, procedures, and policies to enhance operational efficiency.

Maintain established service standards within the unit and manage escalations to fulfill defined business expectations.

Exercise standard managerial authority regarding staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.


Comprehend and comply with the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in alignment with the company's risk appetite.

Design, implement, maintain, and improve internal controls to continuously mitigate risks. Identify risk-related issues that require escalation to management.

Foster an inclusive environment that reflects the values of M&T Bank.


Uphold M&T's internal control standards, including the timely execution of internal and external audit recommendations along with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete additional related tasks as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:
This position entails full managerial responsibilities in directing daily operations for a unit within the Banking Services Department.

Depending on the unit's focus, this role may necessitate specialized technical expertise due to the medium complexity, size, and/or range of functions.

The position operates largely independently in managing unit activities and associated risk exposure.

Required Education and Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of combined higher education and relevant work experience, including at least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience.

Exceptional customer service abilities.

Prior experience demonstrating tact and diplomacy.

Strong proficiency in relevant spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software as needed within the managed unit.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree.

Experience in call center and/or financial services operations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong familiarity with departmental systems, documents, and procedures.

M&T Bank is dedicated to equitable, competitive, and market-informed compensation for our employees. The pay range for this position is $74,000 to $123,810.11 annually (USD). The successful candidate's specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will determine their individual compensation.
