Role Summary

The Office of Scholars Programs (OSP) is seeking a full-time doctoral candidate from the College of Education to work 20 hours per week as a graduate assistant (GA) within the Office of Scholars Programs. The GA will report directly to the director of OSP and assist with overall administrative management, communication, programming, academic coaching, and resource referral for students in four scholarship programs: Bunton-Waller Fellows/Merits, Lenfest, Maguire, and Milton Hershey Scholars. The GA will also share administrative support duties with other full-time graduate assistants in OSP. Successful candidates must exhibit strong communication skills, critical decision-making abilities, multitasking capabilities, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. A positive history of engaging with diverse undergraduate student populations, knowledge of college student development theory, academic counseling/advising, and demonstrated expertise in diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and human rights is preferred.
- Provide ongoing academic assistance and appropriate referrals for the Bunton-Waller Fellows/Merits, Lenfest, Maguire, and Milton Hershey Scholars programs through individual meetings and program opportunities.
- Assist in organizing academic year early move-in, summer orientation activities, events (e.g., Scholars Orientation, Welcome Reception, End of Year Celebration, NSO, etc.), and programming.
- Plan and facilitate monthly meetings for scholars to foster community connections, academic support, and engagement opportunities.
- Provide logistical, administrative, and facilitation support for the Scholarship and Community seminar.
- Create monthly bulletin boards and bi-weekly social media content throughout the academic year.
- Assist with academic mid-year evaluations and communicate with students to support, develop, and implement action plans for academic success.
- Assist in facilitating all-student monthly group meetings.
- Develop and recommend undergraduate student retention strategies and activities to the Director of OSP.
- Review student academic performances and follow up with the Director of OSP and the college multicultural directors/leadership.
- Assist with maintaining student academic records and communications during mid-year and end-of-year reporting processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
