We are seeking innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative individuals to join the academic advising community in providing academic advising to in-major students from their 2nd year through graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration into their academic major or program's community
  • Developing relationships with key members of the academic community
  • Engagement in communication efforts to help develop students' sense of belonging
  • Initiate proactive advising interventions as needed
  • Guide students through the goal setting, course selection, and scheduling process
  • Help with co-curricular experience and engagement exploration
  • Assist with the interpretation of university and college policies and procedures
  • Address student concerns and make professional referrals as appropriate
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records
  • Resolve academic problems and escalating unusual matters, and
  • Identify and monitor academic progress

Education:

This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional level, depending on the final applicant's experience and education.

Intermediate requires a minimum of a Master's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with different student populations in a high-enrollment academic unit are necessities for success in this position.

The successful candidates will have strong backgrounds in working with high school or college-aged students, and a proven track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations.
