Job Description and Position Requirements:

We are seeking innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative individuals to join the academic advising community in providing academic advising to in-major students from their 2nd year through graduation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integration into their academic major or program's community
- Developing relationships with key members of the academic community
- Engagement in communication efforts to help develop students' sense of belonging
- Initiate proactive advising interventions as needed
- Guide students through the goal setting, course selection, and scheduling process
- Help with co-curricular experience and engagement exploration
- Assist with the interpretation of university and college policies and procedures
- Address student concerns and make professional referrals as appropriate
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records
- Resolve academic problems and escalating unusual matters, and
- Identify and monitor academic progress

Education:
This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional level, depending on the final applicant's experience and education.
Intermediate requires a minimum of a Master's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with different student populations in a high-enrollment academic unit are necessities for success in this position.
The successful candidates will have strong backgrounds in working with high school or college-aged students, and a proven track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations.

The academic advisers in these positions play a fundamental role in supporting student academic engagement with both the College of Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Individuals can expect to work independently, but also as part of a dynamic and collaborative academic advising team.
