Principal Staff Rates Analyst

As a Principal Staff Rates Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting technical and financial assessments to formulate and secure regulatory endorsement for electric and gas rate structures, as well as tariff specifications, terms, and conditions.

Your role will involve economic modeling and analytical evaluations, ensuring effective communication and execution of regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate Company proposals and the foundational analysis to internal personnel, offering tariff interpretations to various stakeholders including regulatory staff, clients, and consultants; prepare submissions for miscellaneous tariff modifications beyond a base rate case.
  • Guide IT and Customer Operations teams regarding new rate frameworks and rates applied in customer billing systems.
  • Design and develop technical and financial analysis methodologies, spreadsheets, and models to support electric and gas rate structures, tariff specifications, terms, and conditions for customer billing rates, along with Corporate regulatory and legislative strategies.
  • Conduct economic modeling and analytical evaluations.
  • Draft and compose assigned segments of rate-related testimonies and propose strategic development areas.
  • Prepare responses to inquiries from interveners related to rate submissions or issues.
Qualifications:

Essential:
For the Staff Rates Analyst level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as accounting, engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of the utility sector, economic and/or financial analysis, and accounting principles.
  • Skilled in quantitative analysis and spreadsheet modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
For the Principal Staff Rates Analyst level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as accounting, engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Direct experience in utility cost of service analysis and/or rate design.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the utility sector, with familiarity in the application of gas and electric tariffs and utility accounting.
  • Proficient in quantitative analysis and spreadsheet modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Desired Skills:
