As a Principal Staff Rates Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive technical and financial assessments to formulate and secure regulatory endorsement for electric and gas rate structures and tariff specifications.

Your role will involve economic modeling and analytical evaluations, ensuring the effective communication and execution of regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate Company proposals and the foundational analysis to internal personnel while providing tariff interpretations to regulatory staff, clients, and consultants; prepare documentation for various tariff modifications outside of standard rate cases.
  • Offer strategic guidance to programming teams and customer service operations regarding new rate frameworks and their application in billing systems.
  • Design and refine technical and financial analysis methodologies, spreadsheets, and models to support the development of electric and gas rate structures, tariff specifications, and corporate regulatory strategies.
  • Conduct economic modeling and analytical assessments.
  • Compose and develop assigned segments of rate-related testimonies and identify strategic development opportunities.
  • Prepare responses to inquiries from interveners concerning rate filings or related matters.
Qualifications:

Essential:
For the Staff Rates Analyst level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as accounting, engineering, economics, or mathematics.
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of the utility sector, economic and financial analysis, and accounting principles.
  • Skilled in quantitative analysis and spreadsheet modeling.
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
For the Principal Staff Rates Analyst level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as accounting, engineering, economics, or mathematics.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Direct experience in utility cost of service analysis and/or rate design.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the utility sector, including familiarity with gas and electric tariffs and utility accounting.
  • Proficient in quantitative analysis and spreadsheet modeling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Desired Skills:
Educational background in mathematics or economics.
