Your Role:
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee internal controls, adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and conduct technical accounting research. Your responsibilities will include managing accounting records, preparing financial statements, and assisting various departments in understanding financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting team and collaborate on cross-functional projects.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and documentation, assessing new GAAP or statutory reporting requirements and summarizing findings for management.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation for account balances.
  • Compile quarterly and annual statements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with detailed records.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to protect financial assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage both internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for executive review and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.

Experience: A minimum of 4 to 7 years in an accounting or auditing role within the property and casualty insurance sector, with a solid understanding of both GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with General Ledger or Accounts Payable systems.
  • Familiarity with business operations and functions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and listen attentively.
  • Excellent written communication skills; attention to detail in spelling and grammar.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring timely completion of administrative tasks.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.

Work Environment:
The position is based in a standard office setting, requiring the ability to remain stationary for extended periods while utilizing a computer and other office equipment. Occasional movement within the office is necessary to access files and communicate with colleagues.

Working Hours:
This role follows a standard business schedule.
