Position Overview:

Trulieve, a prominent player in the cannabis sector, is seeking a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to assume a pivotal role within the Finance department. This position will oversee various facets of cost accounting, including daily operations, month-end closure, and inventory assessment. The Senior Accounting Manager will be tasked with month-end closing responsibilities, inventory valuation, cost per gram analysis, SOX compliance reviews, account reconciliations oversight, and managing a team of two Cost Accountants, alongside other initiatives. This role will collaborate extensively with cultivation and manufacturing operations, corporate accounting, SOX compliance, business unit controlling, FP&A, and additional departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrate robust knowledge and experience in cost accounting, financial statements, and inventory assessment.
  • Understand purchasing processes and accounts payable.
  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively within a team and engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Show strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Oversee and evaluate month-end closing activities, including journal entries, variance analysis, account reconciliations, and inventory COGS explanations.
  • Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements by developing, enhancing, and following internal controls.
  • Review and optimize the monthly reconciliation process for balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper support and expense analysis of P&L accounts.
  • Compile documentation and support for internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members in cost accounting.
  • Maintain a strong focus on detail and accuracy in inventory valuation.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in both the SAP system and accounting functions.
  • Engage in special projects, system enhancements, or ad-hoc analyses as required.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in cost accounting and general accounting, with a mix of public and corporate experience preferred.
  • Current knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and SOX requirements.
  • CPA certification or progress towards it is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing a team of cost accountants.
  • Familiarity with external auditor interactions.
  • Proven success in both independent and team leadership roles in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment, emphasizing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; capable of managing priorities and workflow effectively.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and systems, particularly SAP and NAV, is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and V-lookups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to positively influence colleagues; capable of interacting effectively at all organizational levels. Detail-oriented with a focus on process optimization.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background screening.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to cultivation and manufacturing facilities.
